"Sing your Yoga, dance your Yoga!“
Music and dance as two ways of artistic self-expression are initiated by principles of Yoga: breathing, yielding, grounding, centering, aligning, relating, connecting. An interplay of free and structural moments (exploring and learning of material in the field of music and dance) offers for participants an easy way to find joy in personal expression shared with a group.
Yoga
Like pearls on a golden thread, flowing and still movements (asanas) are sequenced on the thread of breath, exerted with awareness of the present moment slowing down the constant flow of thoughts. A meditative practice allowing the experience of harmony, calmness and unity.
Dance Improvisation - the Song of the Body
Development of body awareness is regarded as a process of learning to speak (to sing) with the language (tune) of the body. In Dance improvisation this "language“ becomes meaningful in relating to different themes coming from the body itself or from the outside world. Participants might experience, that dance finds its fulfillment in dancing "with“ somebody - partner, group, object, any idea, with the own person - in contrast to staying outside the experience moving superficially unrelated to any sensation or person.
Community Dances - tradition inspires invention
Dance music of foreign countries and past centuries with its driving dynamics, appealing melodies and challenging rhythms create a dance mood with partners and group. Dances in different formations with simple step patterns - circles, lines, longways, squares - are developed from movement in free space. Playful and explorative moments allow the discovery of individual expression in traded dance material and support the development of self-confidence in its performance.
